Rita Vicari

** January 17, 2025**

I had the honor of capturing Opening Night for Rita Vicari’s stunning solo art exhibit "exist Loudly" at ten20 Gallery in Plano, TX. This wasn’t just any event—it was a celebration of artistry, community, and connection! personally, it felt like a full-circle moment in my photography journey.

This was actually my second time working with Rita. The first was back in June, 2024, when she invited me into her beautiful home studio to shoot some intimate artist portraits. She wanted to document her process and personality in a more personal setting—and I was beyond excited to help bring that vision to life.

But what’s really cool is how Rita found me.

She discovered my work through Rayna, a model who participated in a “Free Session Sunday” we hosted a few months back in april, 2024. That session had a whimsical library theme and was meant purely for creative marketing. Fast forward to opening night—there’s actually a moment on video where Rita shares with Rayna how that session is the reason we connected. Honestly, hearing that made my whole night. 🥹
The gallery was gorgeous, filled with bold colors, powerful storytelling, and guests who were clearly moved by her work. My focus was on capturing candid moments—Rita greeting guests, exchanging stories, and soaking in the joy of seeing her vision come to life.

A Creative Challenge:

Shooting in a gallery can be a bit tricky when it comes to lighting. The artwork was beautifully lit with focused spotlights—but that created some harsh shadows on guests. Still, we made it work by adjusting angles, using a little bit of Flash lighting where possible, and being patient with movement in the space.

In the end, I was able to create a highlight video and a full gallery of images that reflect both the elegance of the artwork and the warmth of the people who came to celebrate Rita’s milestone.
Why I’ll Always Say Yes to Passion Projects:

This event reminded me of the power of showing up—even when it’s for free. That one creative shoot with Rayna? It opened a door I never expected. Sometimes it’s not about immediate profit; it’s about connection, passion, and planting seeds that bloom in their own time.

Thank you, Rita, for trusting me to document such a meaningful evening. Your energy, talent, and kindness are truly inspiring.

Until the next one 💛
